After our visit to Detroit, we were off to Nashville, Tennessee to visit Steve’s parents. I can’t believe I’ve never been to Nashville before. It’s got everything I love; music, bars, nightlife, cowboys. How have I never been here? How could I have missed this city in all of my travels?! I think I may have just found my new home.
It’s not that surprising that Nashville was never on my list before. I’ve only recently been converted to a hillbilly. Steve tried for years to get me to listen to country music, but I resisted. I remember the first time he caught me singing along to a country song on the radio. He said it was a proud husband moment for him. I couldn’t fight it any longer. I had to give in and admit to the fact that I might actually like country music. That was about a year or two ago and I have never looked back. I love it now. It’s fun, and it makes me happy, and going to Nashville to see where it all started was amazing.
The weather in Nashville was a nice change from the frigid temperatures in Detroit. High 60s for our entire visit. Perfect for walking around and exploring. Unfortunately, I was so sick from a virus I must have picked up from one of our many flights. Despite being sick, I was determined to enjoy my time in the city.
Friday night we got to explore Nashville on our own. Our plan was to bar hop our way down the strip, but at the second bar we met a cute, newly engaged young couple from North Carolina and ended up spending the rest of the evening chatting with them. We returned the following night to hit up few more places. We had such a great time. There was live music at every bar, and so many great musicians. There was just something about Nashville that made me feel at home. It’s definitely a place I could see myself living. I can’t wait to go back!
