We are 1 day away from officially moving down to the island, and I could not feel more fortunate. Everything has been falling perfectly into place. We put our Michigan home on the market in April, fully expecting it to sell in a few weeks. It took 3 months and 42 showings before we accepted an offer. But, the timing worked out beautifully. We closed on the same day as our renters moved out of the condo, so we had a place to live after we moved out of the house.
The 2nd condo had renters in their lease until mid-November. They wanted out to buy a house. We wanted them out to sell the place. They found a house, we found a buyer, everyone agreed to the terms of the lease termination, and that condo closed a few weeks ago.
As for the 3rd property, I found a friend willing to rent it out mostly furnished. It’s the ideal arrangement for both of us. He’s getting a nicely furnished condo in a great location for low rent, while I’m getting a place to store all of my nice furniture with a trusted friend who I’m sure will take good care of it. And I’m also getting to hang on to my condo, in case I ever need to come back to it.

I found a great home online through a random Craigslist search, and we’ve managed to sell numerous household items (treadmill, home gym, furniture) on Craigslist as well, with minimal effort and decent profits.
I got the pup certified as an emotional support animal, and just the other day he was cleared to fly on the plane, in the cabin, in first class, with me. That was a big hurdle to overcome, but we did it!

We bought the Jeep, as mentioned in my previous post. Great car, good condition, amazing deal. We listed the Mustang and had offers on it almost immediately. It sold in a day and a half, for more than expected.

My in-laws are storing the Lincoln for us, and may possibly help us sell it while we are away. It’s too bad that it will sit fully paid for and unused, but if that’s the worst thing that’s happened in all of this, I’m good with that.

I feel so fortunate and grateful for everything that’s happened these past few months. Things could not have worked out any better. It all just reinforces my belief that this was meant to be, and maybe I’m not making the huge mistake I previously alluded to.
