Scene 1: August 31st, Detroit, MI

3:00 AM – Alarm 1 goes off.  Ummm…No.  Snooze.

3:30 AM – Alarm 2 goes off.  Ugh.  Not again.  Guess I need to wake up.

3:34 AM – Awake to Steve using my toothbrush.  “They’re both blue!,” he says in his defense.  True, they are both blue, but 2 very distinct shades of blue.  I reluctantly proceed to use my already wet, used toothbrush.  I’m pretty sure this is gross, but after approximately 2 hours of sleep, I’m not sure that I care.  Plus, the dog licks me in the mouth, so…joke’s on him.

3:53 AM – All packed and ready to go.  Who says girls take forever to get ready?!   Just need to load the car.

3:59 AM – Off to the airport to begin our new life.

5:30 AM – Board the plane and before we even take off…zzzzzzzzz.

Scene 2: August 31st, Miami, FL

9:00 AM – Land in Miami, +3 hours sleep.

9:27 AM – Bloody Marys @ The Centurion Lounge, the American Express club that our new credit card grants us free access to.

10:03AM – Champagne @ The Centurion Lounge.

10:12AM – Champagne @ The Centurion Lounge.  Would you like another?   Yes, please.

10:27AM – Champagne @ The Centurion Lounge.  Would you like another?  Yes, please.  It’s free!  Why not?!  Famous last words.

11:34AM – Board the plane for St. Croix and zzzzzzzzz…

Scene 3: August 31st, St. Croix, USVI

3:00 PM – Land in St. Croix, +3 hours sleep and the worst migraine ever.  I’m sure this has nothing to do with drinks in Miami and everything to do with not eating any food.

4:25 PM – Check in at the Renaissance Carambola Beach Resort and Spa, migraine still raging.  Need food.  Need water.  Need something.

5:22 PM – Arrive at Eat @ Cane Bay, a great bar/restaurant minutes from the hotel.  By now, my head hurts so badly I can’t see straight and I’m feeling nauseous.

5:45 PM – Dinner is finally served.  Felt like it took forever.  I take about 3 bites, but at this point, just the food sitting in front of me makes me want to throw up.  We need to leave… now.

5:55 PM – We make it about 1 minute down the road before I become physically ill, puking multiple times out the window of our rental Jeep.

?:?? PM – We finally make it back to our hotel room, where I spend the next 30-45 minutes violently ill.  “Why is this happening to me?” and “God please help me!” is all I keep repeating between gasping for air and uncontrollably vomiting.  Oddly enough, this is the 2nd time in a matter of weeks where a migraine led to this type of violent, uncontrollable vomiting.  I hope this doesn’t become a thing…

6:45ish – In bed for the night.  Hot, sick, exhausted, head still throbbing.  Welcome to St. Croix!
